Run Folder Monitor. It will automatically shrink back to a system tray icon, double-click the icon to pop up a blank window. To monitor the changes of files in a folder, right-click on the blank area of the window and select the Add folder command to add the folder to be monitored, or directly drag the folder to the window; if you know the location of the folder, you can also select the Add path command Enter the path manually.
Tip: The folder added in Folder Monitor can be not only a local folder but also a server-shared folder. File changes that can be monitored include file creation, deletion, modification, and renaming.
The monitoring result can be reminded by a pop-up window or sound. If you want to set a personalized reminder, right-click the system tray software icon, select the Options item to enter the settings window, and select the Visual notification tab to set visual reminders, including visual notification and balloon notification. In order to eliminate the interference of the screen saver on the monitoring, you can check the Stop screen saver option.
If you want to make a sound notification, click the Sound notification tab and choose one of three options: Beep (system speaker), system sound (System sound), and user-defined sound file (Custom sound). Of course, you can also choose No sound to turn off the sound reminder, which is suitable for a multi-person office environment.
If you want to monitor multiple folders, you only need to add them multiple times. What to monitor for each folder can be set individually, right-click the folder and select the Options command, select in the pop-up window to set the monitored content. In addition, in the Execute command tab of the folder monitoring settings, you can also set the command to be automatically executed. In the Filter tab, you can set to filter by file type (which types are included or which types are not included).
If the software detects a change, it will pop up a window according to the setting information, such as a prompt window for deleting a file. If the sound is set, the sound alarm can also be heard.
Tip: To ensure that the automatic monitoring function works, you must right-click the program icon in the taskbar and select Run at logon to select the user whose function is effective.
