How do I download the latest version of Zoom on a Chromebook?
The Zoom app for Chromebooks is slightly different than the browser add-on used on the Chrome browser on Mac or Windows. It’s relatively complicated to set up, and next, I’ll show you how to go through the process to make sure you have the latest version of Zoom on your Chromebook.
Note that these methods only work on Chromebooks.
1. Open the Chrome Web Store on your Chromebook by selecting the app menu icon in the lower-left corner and searching for “Web Store”. Select the web store icon to open it.
2. When the web store app opens, type “Zoom” in the search field. Scroll down until you see Zoom in the Apps section. Select it to open the Chrome Web Store app page for zooming.
3. Select the Zoom app, and then on the apps page select the Add button to install the Zoom app on your Chromebook.
4. Before the Zoom app installs, you will see a pop-up window asking you to approve the Zoom app’s permission to access the microphone and camera. Select Add application to complete the application installation process.
How to tweak Zoom on a Chromebook?
1. If you’re not sure if you have the latest version of the Zoom app on your Chromebook, you can check the version of the installed app.
To check the version of the Zoom app installed on your Chromebook, select the app launch icon in the lower-left corner of the window. Search for “Zoom” and launch the Zoom app. Select the gear icon in the upper-right corner to access the settings page.
2. In the Settings window, you will see the specific version of the Zoom app that you have installed. You can compare it with the version shown on your screen.
3. The easiest way to update the Zoom app on your Chromebook is to restart it. Every time you restart your Chromebook, the system automatically checks to see if all the apps have been updated.
To restart your Chromebook, simply select the right side of the toolbar and select the power button to turn off your Chromebook.
4. When you have completed the above steps, the Zoom app still does not work properly, and I recommend that you use the “Join a Meeting” page on the Zoom website to connect to your meeting.
