Chances are, you don’t know that your Netflix subscription includes free access to great mobile games. Netflix has been adding free mobile games to its service since November 2021, but almost no one seems to know. Most importantly? The game has no ads or in-app purchases.
Everything you need to know about Netflix games is here: what is available, how to play them, and what the limits are.
What Are Netflix Games?
If you subscribe to Netflix, you can play more than 25 games on mobile devices (Android phones and tablets, iPhones, iPad, and iPod touch). While the quality is uneven, there are plenty of great Netflix mobile games that span a variety of genres, and the library of games is constantly evolving.
The games available include the charming hidden object hunt Krispee Street, the inventive and mind-bending mini-golf of Wonderputt Forever, and Arcanium’s fantasy, roguelike strategy card experience.
Apart from a few exceptions like the pixelated adventure Stranger Things: 1984, most of these games have no relevance to Netflix shows or movies, so you don’t need any prior experience to jump in and enjoy yourself.
What are the requirements for playing Netflix games?
If you have a valid Netflix membership, you can play these games for free at any level. They don’t have ads, in-app purchases, or any additional charges. All of these are available in English and are widely supported in other languages.
You must be running Android 8.0 or later, or iOS/iPadOS 15 or later, and some games may not work if your device’s hardware does not meet the requirements. You’ll also need enough storage space to install the game.
Everyone who has a Netflix profile on your account can play these games, spanning multiple devices. However, there are no games available on Netflix’s children’s profiles. If you use a PIN to protect your adult Netflix profile, you’ll need the same number to launch any games from outside the Netflix app. If the game’s maturity level is higher than the maturity setting of the Netflix profile, the game may also not appear.
When you launch a game, you have to choose a profile to bind your progress. If you reach a device limit, Netflix will warn you and ask you to remove a device. You can also manage active devices from your Netflix account at any time.
Some games require a constant internet connection, while others can be played offline – perfect in areas where travel or an internet connection is unstable. The connection requirements appear on every game page, so you know what’s going to happen before you download.
How to download and play Netflix games
To get started, launch the Netflix app on your mobile device. On Android, tap Games from the bottom menu. Or, if you’re using iOS, scroll down on the home page until you find the Netflix game line. Its title could be Play Mobile Game or something like that.
If a game appeals to you, click on it to learn more. On the game page, you can see trailers, screenshots, details of the game, and loosely related shows and movies that you might like.
If you want to play this game, please click to get the game. This will redirect you to the Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS), where you can download the game. You can also find games directly through your device’s app store instead of using the Netflix app; Search for the title of the game or “Netflix Games”.
Once the download is complete, you can launch the game from your device’s app library. Or, go back to Netflix’s games page and tap Play Game.
When you launch the game, you should be prompted to select your Netflix profile. If this doesn’t happen, your main Netflix profile will be used by default – tap the profile icon in the game to switch to a different profile if needed. Any saved data in the session is stored in the configuration file.
What happens to Netflix games if you unsubscribe?
If your Netflix subscription expires, you won’t be able to play these games anymore. Your game history and save will be stored for 10 months. If you reactivate your subscription during this time, you can continue to start over where you left off, as long as you don’t manually delete the game or its data from your device.
If you delete the Netflix profile you used to log in to the game, you will also lose your game data.
Netflix Games: Will You Play?
When Netflix first launched its games in late 2021, they were only available on Android and had limited options — mostly generic and shallow mobile games. Now things are different. These games are also available on iOS, and many of them are really fun.
