There are many ways to track the location of your smartphone. Both Android and iPhone devices have built-in location tracking tools. Gps location services on the phone are activated as long as the GPS location service on the phone is enabled and the owner has granted the app access to that information.
Here are a few of the ways these location tracking services can use to find my phone’s location:
How do I find my phone’s location by number?
A lot of people dream of being able to find my phone by number. Unfortunately, there is no app that can show you the location of your phone based solely on your phone number. Any app in the Google Play Store that claims to do so is a scam.
The only way you can track the location of your phone is to install software on that phone and use it. And, the phone owner must allow the software to use the location services on the phone.
Find your Android phone through Google’s Find My device
Tracking the location of your Android phone couldn’t be easier. As long as location services are enabled on your Android device, you can use Google’s Find My Device page as a Google Phone Tracker to get your phone’s location.
When you’re done, you’ll see the phone’s GPS exact location identified by a small green icon on Google Maps.
On the left side of the map, you’ll see three services that you can use if your phone isn’t currently in your hands:
Play Sound: Your phone will sound the alarm for five minutes, even if the volume is set to silent. If the phone is anywhere near you, you should hear it.
Secure Device: If you know your phone is lost, you can make sure it’s locked so no one can get into it. This option still ensures you can locate your device, and, even better, you can display a phone number with which someone may call you if they come across your device.
Erase Device: If you’ve lost all hope, you can remotely erase everything on your device permanently.
It’s a good idea to make sure you’ve enabled location services on your phone and provided Google with permission to track your phone’s location. To do this, go to Settings > Google. Click “Find My Device” to toggle it to enable tracking. However, as soon as you add a Google account to your phone, Find My Device is usually turned on.
Also, for Find My Device to work, your phone must be turned on, connected to the Internet, enabled to Find My Device, and visible on Google Play.
This way, if your phone is lost, you can quickly take advantage of one of these features to protect your information.
Find your iPhone through Apple’s Find My iPhone
To track the location of your iPhone, you can use Apple’s Find My iPhone service.
Just like tracking an Android phone, you have to enable location services on your iPhone for it to work. If you have, you can log into iCloud from a computer or other device to track your iPhone in the same way. This makes it easy for you to find your iPhone from your Android device.
This service is great because it greatly increases the likelihood that users will get their lost iPhone back.
If Find My iPhone can’t find your iPhone, you’ll immediately see Offline under the device name. In this case, the Find My iPhone will show the last known location for up to 24 hours. Choose to notify me when found so Apple can notify you via email when it finds your iPhone.
Share your location on Google Maps
Another great way to let family or friends track your phone’s location is to share your location through Google Maps, one of the best features of Google Maps.
If you open Google Maps and tap on your own icon in the search bar, you’ll see a location-sharing option in the list. Tap the blue “Share Location” button to share your location and the remaining battery life in your phone with anyone in your contact list, or with another app or nearby device.
You can choose to do this for a specified period of time, such as an hour, or indefinitely until you turn off the feature yourself.
When parents leave for any reason, it’s a great way to reassure your family. It’s also a great way for parents to track where their kids are outside. Google Maps’ location sharing feature enables you to place your Android phone as a GPS tracking device.
