Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro released: faster chips, face unlocking, and the same low price

Google has officially launched its new Pixel phone for 2022. The Pixel 7 is classified as an “affordable flagship” and comes with an upgraded Tensor G2 chip, as well as a slightly smaller battery. The Pixel 7 Pro is a full flagship device with a new chip, a longer zoom range, and a brighter display with a telephoto camera.

Both phones are priced at the same price as the Pixel 6 device, with $599 for the Pixel 7 and $899 for the 7 Pro. They are now available for pre-order and will ship on October 13.

Specifications for the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro

The Pixel 7 phone features Google’s second-generation Tensor G2 chip and also comes with a new modem, which may help solve some of the connectivity issues some users experience in the Pixel 6 series.

Both phones also introduce face unlock features (and an in-screen fingerprint scanner) that weren’t available last time. Both phones are IP68 rated to protect against dust and water.

Compared to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, the hardware looks like just an increment, and Google’s ads focus on the device’s software features, including camera performance, artificial intelligence capabilities, and long battery life through extreme battery-saving mode. These two phones also play a big role in Google’s Pixel hardware ecosystem.
